Tsaatan Reindeer Herders Journey
Experience the unique lifestyle of Mongolia's Tsaatan people, one of the world's last reindeer herding communities living in the remote northern taiga forests.
Tour Overview
This unique journey takes you to northern Mongolia's remote taiga forest to visit the Tsaatan (Dukha) people, one of the world's last remaining reindeer herding communities. Beginning in Ulaanbaatar, you'll travel to the pristine shores of Lake Khövsgöl before venturing deeper into the taiga to experience the traditional way of life of these indigenous people.
The Tsaatan people have maintained their ancient traditions and nomadic way of life, moving with their reindeer herds through the forests and mountains of northern Mongolia. Living in tepee-like structures called "ortz," they depend on their reindeer for transportation, milk, cheese, and occasionally meat.
This tour offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in their culture, learn about their shamanistic beliefs, and experience the daily routines of reindeer herding. You'll also enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of northern Mongolia, including the beautiful Lake Khövsgöl, often called the "Blue Pearl of Mongolia."
This journey is perfect for adventure travelers, cultural enthusiasts, and photographers looking to document one of the world's most unique indigenous cultures.
