Arrive in UB.  Transfer to hotel. Short city tour visiting National History Musuem, Gandan Monastery, the Center of Mongolian Buddhism and Sukhbaatar square. Short briefing on upcoming trip.

Flight to Khovd town, once it was the center of most heterogeneous province of Mongolia. Short tour in the town, visiting Kazakh carpet and handcraft makers, ruins of old town wall, built during the rule of Manchu Qing Dynasty(optional). Head for Tsambagarav and Tsast Mountains. Camp in Namarjin valley with outstanding view of the mountains.

Hike to the Tsambagarav Mountains ( 4028 m) or neighboring Tsast Mountain until the edge of permanent snow and its glaciers.  The mountains are considered as sacred mountains and important place for snow hydrology and provide habitation for snow leopard. Back to camp.

Drive to Bayan-Ulgii province via Tolbo lake. The landscape on the way will varied from arid, semi deserts to green meadow valleys dotted with nomads' felt homes called ger (yurt). Get to Ulgii town, center of Bayan-Ulgii province where over 90 percent of population consist of Kazakhs. Late afternoon we head for the local Kazakh family in Sagsai.

The day spent with Kazakh family participating their daily activities, felt carpet making and more on their culture. Try eagle hunting tradition with Berkutchi (hunter with eagle in Kazakh) in the nude mountains burned by the sun.

Early in the morning drive to the majestic Tavan Bogd Mountains( Holy Five). After five to six-hour drive, we get to the Tavan Bogd National Park's ranger station. Vehicles are not allowed to go further. Prepare for the coming trip and overnight at tent.

Trekking towards the mountains enjoying spectacular scenery of the Altai mountains. After three to four hours trekking you will be rewarded by stunning view of Tavan Bogd with its beautiful glaciers called Potanin and Alexander. Camp at the foot of the mountains.

The days spent for enjoying and relaxing with panoramic view of Tavan Bogd and its vicinity.

Climb to the Malchin Peak (4020 m). 4 hours on walk to the peak for spectacular scenery of Altai Mountain range.

Go down to Tsagaan Gol (White river) ranger station. The muddy river called Tsagaan Us or Gol, (rises from the peaks and glaciers of Altai mountains and looks like a milk as it carries loads of silt) flows through a beautiful mountain valley! Camp in the .....near Tuvans families, and visit them experiencing their tradition especially the shamanist belief and khuumii, the throat singing. Nearby the valley is the Shiveet Khairhan mountains where you could see some fascinating petroglyphs (optional).

Continue trip to Tsagaan Us Valley on horseback enjoy this secluded wilderness. Camp near the beautiful small waterfall in the Bear Valley.

The trip on horseback will continue to Khoton lake, which offers excellent camping spots with its surrounding snowcapped mountains. Behind the mountains in the west of lake is Chinese border. Camp at the northern shore of lake.

Today we will rejoin to our vehicle team in the Syrgali, the point where the Khoton and Khurgan Lakes connected by a river. On the way visit local families. Camp at Syrgali by the river!

Back to Ulgii, visit local market for handicrafts. Overnight at local hotel.

Flight back to UB. Short city tour with Winter Palace Museum of Bogd Khaan, the last head of state and religion in XX century, and panoramic Zaisan hill. Folk performance in the evening. Farewell dinner.

Transfer to airport, back home with trip memories.
